Why is there a massive shortage of Gatorade in New Jersey?

We all face delays, lack of inventory and shortages. There is one item, however, that is getting harder and harder to find on the shelves.

Listen to Matt Ryan weekday afternoons on 94.3 The Point and download our free 94.3 The Point app.

Is this the “Gatorade Great Shortage of 2021?” Well yeah.

It’s nearly impossible to find your average 32-ounce Gatorade bottles in most New Jersey grocery stores.

What about Gatorade Zero? Forget that. Good luck.

I have to drink Gatorade Zero because I can’t have sugar.

Most of the time when I look around there might be a bottle of Zero left on the shelf and usually a flavor that I don’t like. But, beggars cannot be chosen.

There are even back orders on Amazon. I guess some people have even hoarded things up and are selling the sports drink for insanely high prices.

New rule. No more of that. We cannot waste the precious supply we have left.

Like I said, it’s hard to find a lot of easily obtainable items in the store, but Gatorade’s problem seems to be getting worse.

So I decided to do a little investigation to find out exactly why.

It turns out that there are several factors at play, according to this report.

First, there is the problem of the supply chain. This is very common at the moment for many different products. In this case, there is a shortage of plastic for Gatorade bottles.

The shortage is so severe that PepsiCo, the maker of Gatorade, has said it expects prices for the drink to rise very soon.

To make matters worse, there is also a shortage of truck drivers to deliver the supplies that are actually available.

Finally, PepsiCo is also catching up with strong demand for Gatorade when the pandemic peaked and then peaked again. Those who caught COVID and were recovering at home or in hospital were drinking heavily.

I still don’t have an answer as to why Gatorade Zero is harder to find than normal. Also, if you are a Powerade fan, this deal seems to be a lot better. If you are a sugar free person like me, it is worth giving Powerade a try.

Or, I can do what all of my crazy health friends have always told me to do, and it’s “just drink water. It’s better for you.”

Having trouble finding Gatorade? What other items are getting harder and harder to find? Email me: [email protected] Oh, and if you’ve got a place that has enough Gatorade Zero, I’d like to know where.

Hopefully Gatorade doesn’t go away like these 50 famous brands that no longer exist
